A memorable wedding lies in all of the details which have the power to make a wedding unique and special to the couple.  One of the recent trends for weddings which can represent both the couple’s taste and theme of their wedding is a spin on the traditional cake……Cupcakes!  It is now being incorporated or altogether replacing the wedding cake.  Cupcakes offer so many creative ways to represent what the bride and groom likes, by choice of flavor, frosting, and decoration.

A great advantage of choosing cupcakes is that they can all be individualized, each one distinct from another. The options are endless which means the guests no longer have to be limited to one flavor cake and now can choose their favorite from chocolate to vanilla to red velvet! Embellishment no longer has to be the same design, it can be different colors,  different adornment of bows, flowers, and/or writing. A great idea is to have the cupcakes alternate between the couple’s wedding date or a simple saying of “I do.” Whichever way the bride and groom chooses to personalize the cupcakes it will display their style and create a lasting memory for their guests.

It’s a new way to add whimsy to your special day and is definitely worth some consideration!

“Don’t just live in the moment. Love in it.” – Alexandra Beauregard, Heart Love Weddings

Last week, our Asian Bridal Style Shoot with Nicole Chan Photography was featured on Heart Love Weddings to showcase various traditional Southeast Asian cultural bridal dresses. Guests sometimes will get to see a bride change into a reception dress for dinner and dancing; at Asian American weddings, guests may get to see an extra outfit such as a qi pao (Chinese wedding) or an ao dai (Vietnamese wedding). Trendy designers like Kim’s Fashion and Vanessa Bridal have amazing Asian bridal wear that modern brides would love for their tea ceremony and wedding. Brides can also kick it up a notch and add some dazzle, bling, accessories and pretty shoes from Shoes To Dye For. What about hair and makeup for an Asian bride? FrancesRay Jules Salon knows how to work with various complexions and hair textures to complete the cultural gowns.

Best part about the style shoot – all the vendors are located right here in Boston!

It’s only appropriate for me to post these photos from our Sweet Summer inspiration shoot as we enjoyed the last bit of warm weather over the weekend. The girls and I gathered some local vendors to help bring our design inspiration together. We focused on bright and fun summer colors such as fuchsia, orange, and yellow.

Venue: Hyatt Regency Boston
The downtown Hyatt Regency Hotel has a gorgeous outdoor terrace area connected to their Grand Ballroom. Their newly renovated event space can hold up to 500 guests!  Their Catering Manager, Christine Weiland, will take good care of you so give them a call for your next event!

Casey is such a pleasure to work with! She captured the photos beautifully which also caught the eyes of SMP Massachusetts.

Wardrobe: 9Tailors

Florist: Beach Plum Design
All I had to do was tell Shawna Chaffee the colors and feel we were going for and she went with it. Absolutely amazing centerpieces and bridal bouquet.

Back to School

September 13, 2011 |  by  |  Decor, Inspirations  |  No Comments  |  Share

Its that time again when children are rushing in and out of school buses, teachers are bustling around in their classrooms and it seems like the world is back to normal again.  Unbearable morning traffic has emerged again with school buses screeching to a halt to pick children up at their stop; to dedicate this week to all those teachers who help and nurture each child’s growing need to succeed, here are a few ideas for an educator’s dream wedding.

A simple and elegant way for a teacher to express one of the most important days of her life.

*Notes for the teacher* is a fun and cute idea for guests to leave messages for the bride and groom! Along with these great ideas, the library book check out cards can also be used as personalized menu cards for guests!

Simple accents that will help complete the look.

A teacher friendly snack bar for all guests!

Thank you to all those teachers who are helping our kids become everything they can be!

An Enchanted Shoot

February 27, 2011 |  by  |  Inspirations  |  2 Comments  |  Share

In the woods of the South Shore? That’s right! The girls and I headed to Plymouth back in November to coordinate a truly enchanted forest shoot with Shannon Grant and Sweetferns. We picked up all the items the day before the shoot and had to use two cars to fit the table, chairs, tableware, linen, moss, branches, and columns. This doesn’t even include the ladder we had to borrow from Shannon to hang items in the forest. So what would you think if you saw a group of girls carrying random items into the woods on an early Saturday morning? A tad bit suspicious? A vigilant neighbor thought so and next thing you know, the Plymouth Police stopped by.  But the police officer was very nice and we explained to him about the shoot so we were free to continue setup. Diana and Angel started with the napkins for the table setup. They took the BBJ Linen Adele Lamour print napkins and folded them into a lotus. Michelle and I laid out the Burgundy Lamour tablecloth and Be Our Guest Party Rental’s table, plates, flatware, glasses, and chairs. We chose these ivory Baroque frames from the Favour Shoppe to compliment the Duchess set. The baroque frames were the perfect size to be used as place cards for guests or table card holders. We asked Ana from Anastasia Designs to create a place card for the “newlyweds” at “Table 1” that resembled her invitation designs for the shoot. Ana designed the pocket envelope invitations based on the color palette we gave her of merlot, burgundy, ivory, and cream. To go with our enchanted theme, Ana also wrapped a jar with a piece of lace ribbon (that was also used on the invitations) and attached the table number 1 over the ribbon. The jar was filled with a flower and some moss. We also draped two 6ft white columns from the Prop Factory with moss and wrap branches so that it blended in with the forest better. Gale from Sweetferns brought metal cones to hang from stands that lined the path to the forest. There was also a giant antique urn filled with branches that held the place cards. Enchanted enough for you yet? Enjoy these amazing pictures by Shannon Grant Photography:

Jeni Teran did an amazing job on Angela Pagliarulo’s hair and makeup! It was about 40 degrees outside and Angela made it seem like we were in an enchanted summer shoot. She wore a beautiful white short vintage wedding dress with lace and frills from Your Fairy Tale Wedding.

Such a gorgeous photo! Reminds me of a Cover Girl magazine!

Enchanted

Like I was telling Nicole today, there really isn’t an “off season” for wedding planners because we’re still working through the winter months as we prepare for the summer weddings! We’ve been focusing on several projects and weddings for the coming year that we can’t wait to share with everyone. It’s hard to believe winter is here already. Not to mention Christmas and New Years right around the corner. This is definitely a great time of the year to share with loved ones and enjoy the holiday season. On that note, I leave you with an Enchanted Wedding Inspiration Board put together with a photo from Shannon Grant Photography:

“Her style of timeless imagery is romantic and ethereal. Shannon uses a combination of classic fashion style, with a fine art look and natural emotion.” We are so very glad that we had an opportunity to work with Shannon!
